I’m seeking a role as a web developer at a company where I can learn, grow, and continue to master the craft. Everyday brings a new challenge that I look forward to conquering.
My previous experiences with web development and programming date back to 2003 when I was a junior in High School. During my junior year I took three classes that planted a seed in me that has not begun to flourish until now. The three classes I’m talking about are Digital Design, Web Design and Programming I.
Digital Design focused on design elements and typography of newsletters, articles and the like. Web Design was a course that taught HTML and later Dreamweaver to develop websites. Programming I taught the fundamentals of programming using the PASCAL language. Out of the three the class that interested me the most was Web Design. However, for whatever reason, I didn’t continue my search for knowledge in web development. I was also so turned off by programming due to it's initial complexity. I never thought I could learn to code.
Fast forward to June of 2016 and I’m a working adult with a family and career. I have no college diploma and 14 years of experience in customer service in the retail/grocery industry. I’ve grown tired of the retail industry and don’t feel intellectually challenged and/or stimulated. I feel trapped and unable to do anything about it. My current career is not able to give me the flexibility and control I want for my life. The desire to have control of my own career and to be able to dictate when and where I want to work has been a fire burning inside of me for the past year and a half.
